Week of November 9th-November 15th

State Meet
Congratulations to Katie Andrus and Riley Moore on their performances at the State Meet in Pasco this weekend.  Katie Andrus placed 76th overall in the 4A girls race with a time 20:07, a 25 second PR over her career best.  Riley Moore turned in the  2nd fastest time a freshman has ever run on the 5K course over at Pasco in placing 10th.  His time of 15:40 was good enough to earn him All-State honors.

Fund Raiser
Wednesday morning at 8:00 am we will be meeting at the track shed to deliver door hangers for 24 Hour Fitness.  Any help we can receive would be greatly appreciated.

Banquet
Our end of the year banquet is scheduled for November 10th @ 6:00 pm.  These groups are responsible for the following items:
     *Freshman (Fruit)
     *Sophomores (Sides/Pastas)
     *Juniors (Desserts)
     *Seniors (Veggies)
The program will be providing pizza and drinks during the banquet. 

Nike Cross NW Regionals in Boise
Good luck to the group of boys and girls traveling to Boise this weekend to participate in the Nike Cross NW Regionals!

Course Preview

We will be leaving the Fran Rish parking lot at 11:30 tomorrow to go and preview the course at Sun Willows.  We should be done by 2:00.  Make sure you communicate with your son/daughter about how they are going to get home.  Thanks for your support.

Week of November 2nd-November 8th

Regional Meet:
Congratulations to all of our regional participants this weekend.  We had a great weekend with strong performances throughout our lineups.  Katie Andrus (15th) and Riley Moore (5th) will both be competing this weekend at the State Meet in Pasco at Sun Willows Golf Course.  Katie will compete at 1:00 and Riley will compete at 2:30.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $7.  Hope to see lots of Bomber support!

Course Preview:
We will be previewing the state course on Friday.  We will be caravaning over to the course from the Fran Rish parking lot at 12:00 since we have a 1/2 day on Friday.  We encourage any and all cross country participants to join us as this is the only day of the year that the course is open to all athletes. Look forward to seeing you on Friday.

Uniform Turn-In

NCAA Western Regional Meet
The NCAA national championship qualifying meet for the Western Regional is located in Seattle this year on Friday 11/13.  We will have four former Bombers competing in this meet this year!  It is a great opportunity to see our sport at the highest level.  If there are any parents who are interested in caravaning/carpooling kids over to the meet, please let me know.

Nike Cross Regionals
We have had athletes compete at the Nike Cross Regional meet located in Boise, ID the last 6 years. This year it is on 11/14 and is a fun racing environment with teams and athletes from all over the Northwest.  Our region is comprised of Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Wyoming.  If you are interested in more information on this meet, please let me know.

Bomber XC Alumni
Michael Williams (WSU) placed 12th in a time of 23:29 at the Pac-12 Championships in Colfax. Lindsey Bradley (UW) placed 57th in her first Pac-12 Championships in a time 21:10.  Maggie Jones (Gonzaga) was 23rd at the West Coast Conference Championships in a time of 22:04 and helped lead Gonzaga to their first conference title since 1995.  Katie Mahoney (EWU) was 36th at the Big Sky Championships held in Cedar City, Utah with a time of 19:26.

Week of October 26th-November 1st

District Meet
The boys team won the district title 24-36 over the Walla Walla Blue Devils last Thursday at Leslie Groves Park.  The boys team of Riley Moore, Jonah Sandoval, Jacob Gill, Anthony Stone, Cody Sloan, Jesse Todd, Mark McDuffie, Patrick Workman, and Chad Murphy competed extremely well and avenged a league meet loss the previous week.  Chris Nilsen placed 3rd in the boys JV race in a huge PR from the previous year.  The girls team running without three of their normal varsity runners took 3rd, only one point out of second.  The team of Katie Andrus, Rylie Jundt, Courtney Storaci, Braydin Henderson, Ada Poulson, and Ashley Hammond ran well while setting PR's for the year.  Our boys and girls teams are in action this Saturday at Wandermere Golf Course at the MCC/GSL Regional meet.  Top three teams and top fifteen individuals will move on to the state meet in Pasco the next week.

Uniform turn in will occur in Coach Bartlett's Room on Monday 10/26 from 2:30-3:00 before our end of the year Miracle Mile.  All athletes are expected to report for this time trial.  All athletes are also encouraged to continue training with the varsity teams as they prepare for regional and state competition.

Week of October 19th-25th

League Meet #2
Our boys team finished tied for 2nd in the Mid-Columbia Conference with Walla Walla after our last league meet at Leslie Groves last Thursday.  Riley Moore and Jonah Sandoval solidified their all-league standings by finishing 2nd and 6th respectively.  Anthony Stone took second overall in the boys JV race.  Our girls team finished 5th overall in league behind the 1-2 punch of Izzy Silva and  Katie Andrus.  Many PR's were set on both the boys and girls side!

Districts
All athletes will be participating this Thursday at Leslie Groves in the Mid-Columbia Conference District Meet.  Racing schedule is as follows:

Week of October 11th-18th

Richland Invitational
Thank you so much to everyone that was able to help this weekend!  It takes a small army to make it run and make it as successful as it is.  We couldn't do it without you!  We had many great performances this weekend.  Riley Moore finished 11th overall and was the highest placing local athlete in the Division I race, helping our boys to a 9th place finish overall.  Our boys frosh/soph team lead by Patrick Workman's 4th place finish placed 4th overall.  Our top girl was Katie Andrus' 34th place finish in the Division I race.

Leage Meet #2 @ Lawrence Scott Park
Our second and final league meet of the year will be at Lawrence Scott Park in Kennewick.  Times as of right now at TBA so make sure you look at your athlete's itinerary on Wednesday.

White Pass Cross Country Camp Registration
White Pass Cross Country Camp Registration is very close to being closed for week 1.  We encourage as many athletes to attend this camp as possible as it is a great kickoff to summer training.  Athletes participate in lectures (training systems, nutrition, strength training, etc), workouts up in the mountains along dirt/wood chipped trails, and fun group competitions.  Athletes stay in condominiums across from the White Pass Ski Resort and receive three meals a day.  Athletes must plan on registering early as camp will fill up usually within the first 3-5 days after it is opened.  We attend the first week of camp which this year is 7/10 to 7/15. Trail Help

We are in need of some help parental help spreading some bark (generously donated by the City of Richland) on the trail above the soccer fields.  There are some large piles of bark scattered in piles throughout the trail.  We would need helping laying it from where the trail begins at the top of Carmichael Hill to the end of the soccer complex.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Wheelbarrows, shovels, and rakes would be useful as well.  Thanks so much.

Week of 9/4 to 9/10

Pasco Invite:
We had many great performances this weekend over at Pasco.  The boys placed 3rd on a 6th runner tiebreaker to Kennewick while the girls just missed out on 3rd place by 1 point to Othello.  Our boys frosh/soph team won the team title.

Richland Invitational
The Richland Invitational is coming up Saturday, October 10th.  This is our only fundraiser for the year and will need everyone's help.  Last year we had over 70 teams participate and we issued close to 2300 race numbers.  We expect the meet to be at least that big this year.  There will be a parent meeting Monday October 5th @ 6:00 pm in room 2260 (building closest to Thayer).  The meeting should last no later than 6:30.  We request that at least one parent be in attendance. Thank you for all of your help in advance.

Week of 9/27-10/3


League Meet at Walla Walla:
The boys team finished their first league meet 6-1 with their only loss to Kamiakin who is ranked 2nd in the state at the 3A level.  The boys were lead by Riley Moore (16:10) and Jonah Sandoval (16:34) who finished 3rd and 7th respectively.  Rounding out the top five were Jacob Gill (12th, 16:56), Jesse Todd (20th, 17:33), and Mark McDuffie (22nd, 17:35).

The girls team finished 3-4 despite missing two varsity girls.  The girls were led by Izzy Silva (20:27) and Katie Andrus (20:35) who placed 7th and 9th respectively.  Rounding out the top five were Rylie Jundt (27th, 22:33), Katrina Lane (33rd, 23:40), and Braydin Henderson (37th, 24:30).

A select group of athletes will be competing in Pasco this Saturday, October 3rd, at the Pasco Bulldog Invitational. The schedule is as follows:

     *5K JV 11-12 grade boys 11:45
     *5K JV Girls  12:30
     *5K Varsity Girls 1:15
     *5K Varsity Boys 2:00  

Pasta Feed
There will be a pasta feed at Austin Hartley's house this Friday night.

     *Both boys and girls teams are invited.
     *Athletes are invited to bring a dessert or drink

Week of 9/20-9/26

Fort Steilacoom Invite
We had beautiful racing conditions this weekend in Lakewood and had some wonderful performances.  Many kids ran huge PR's for that course.  The boys varsity ran in the Gold Division (Elite) and placed a respectable 8th out of 16 teams.  Our girls ran in the Silver Division and had a great showing in placing 13th out of 36 teams.  Both Riley Moore and Izzy Silva placed in the top 20 of their respective races.

Bomber XC Alumni
This weekend was a great weekend for some past Bombers.  At the Sundodger Invitational in Seattle, Michael Williams (WSU) placed second and was the top Cougar with a time of 24:08 for 8,000 meters. Lindsey Bradley (UW) placed 5th overall and was 4th on her team in her first 6K ever with a time of 20:48.  Maggie Jones (Gonzaga) placed second overall and the first Bulldog at the Erik Anderson Invitational with a time of 21:26 for 6K.  Katie Mahoney (EWU) placed 14th overall and the first Eagle with a time of 22:03.  Eli Shelby (Northwest Christian University) was 6th overall and second on his team at their conference preview meet with a time of 26:56 for 8,000 meters.

Highlander Invitational:
We had a good opener for the season this weekend in Spokane with 6 top fifteen finishes.  With a long bus ride, warm running conditions, and an extremely competitive field our teams showed very well.

This weekend a group of athletes will be traveling over the mountains to the Fort Steilacoom Invitational in Lakewood, Washington.  Five state ranked teams on both the boys and girls side will be represented so it will be a good barometer of how our teams stack up on the state level.  Athletes chosen to make the trip will be bringing home an itinerary on Tuesday.

Carmichael Middle School Home Meet:
The Carmichael Cougars are hosting their only home meet of the year this Tuesday, 9/15.  We would appreciate athletes representing Richland High School at this meet and supporting our future Bombers.  The meet begins at 4:00 with the last race beginning at 5:30.

Time Trial:
Our time trial on Saturday will be followed by a pot-luck breakfast.
     *Frosh:  Fruit
     *Sophs:  Juice & Cups
     *Juniors:  Muffins/Pastries
     *Seniors:  Bagels/Spreads

Miscellaneous:
*If you haven't yet turned in your training log to me from the summer, please get them to me ASAP.

*Make sure you have a watch everyday for training purposes.

*Bring your spikes tomorrow (Monday 8/31)

Welcome to the 2015 Season

A couple of announcements for this week:

Practices this week will be as follows:
     *Monday 3:00 pm
     *Tuesday 3:00 pm
     *Wednesday  3:00 pm
     *Thursday 3:00 pm
     *Friday 3:00 pm
     *Saturday 8:00 am

Wednesday 9/26 from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Runner's Soul in Kennewick is our annual "Spike Night" in which Richland HS athletes will receive apparel at a discounted rate.  Their name can also be entered into a drawing for gift certificates to the store as well as other prizes.  Please plan on attending.

If you were not able to attend registration night, your child should have brought home a parent/athlete manual as well as a season schedule.  If you have not received one of those, please let me know.
