2016 Season (Week 6)

League Meet at Walla Walla:
The boys finished 2nd in our league meet on Thursday in Walla Walla led by Riley Moore's victory in 15:49.  The girls finished 5th led by the 2nd place finish of Katie Andrus in 19:35.  Great improvements over last year by our returning athletes and great starts for our new athletes who thrived in their first 5K of the year.  Full results can be found at:

White Pass Cross Country Camp
Registration opens up for White Pass Cross Country camp opens up October 1st at 12:00 AM.  We would love as many athletes to participate as possible as people as this is a great week of intensive training, classroom discussions, lectures, video analysis, and team competitions.  We will be attending Week #1.  You can register at the link below, but be aware that the camp will fill up within the 1st week after it is opening so please plan on signing up promptly.

Pasco Big Cross
We will have a large contingent of athletes participating this Saturday at Pasco's Big Cross.  The meet begins at 10:20 with the last race beginning at 2:00.  Athletes will be responsible for getting a ride to and from the meet.  There will be a paste feed at Ethan Meig's home on Friday night.  More information to come as to when the pasta feed will take place.

Richland Invite
The 48th annual Max Jensen Richland Invitational will be taking place on October 8th at the Carmichael playfields.  We will everyone's assistance in putting on this meet as this year we are slated to host 70 schools and over 2700 athletes.  There is a parent/volunteer meeting in Coach Bartlett's room (room 2260, building closest to Thayer Drive) at 6:00 pm on Monday October 3rd.  This is a very important meeting in order to organize volunteers and to introduce new parents to the roles that need to be filled.  The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes.  Please plan on having at least one parent in attendance.

AM Practices
Athletes will have access to locker rooms in the gym to shower after their morning practice. Towels will be provided.  Anything else athletes need should be brought from home.  A cabinet in Coach Bartlett's room, 2260, will be provided for athletes to store bags and practice equipment for the day. 

XC Meets:

Just a reminder that athletes are not allowed to ride home with anyone other than a parent without prior written approval from our athletic director Mr. Edwards.  Athletes going home with a parent must sign out with a coach before being released and will not be released until the conclusion of the meet.  If arranging to go home with someone else, please plan on contacting Mr. Edwards early in the week.

Fort Steilacoom Invite:
Fantastic job by all participants on Saturday at the Fort Steilacoom Invite.  The boys team of Riley Moore, Anthony Stone, Jesse Todd, Chris Nilsen, Tim Nilsen, Patrick Workman, & Mark McDuffie placed 3rd overall in the meet with a team average of 16:46.  Katie Andrus placed 13th in the Gold Division Race with over a 1:20 second PR.  Sophia Fetrow, Kara Lee Edvalson, and Jacoby Sherman turned in outstanding performances by placing 9th, 13th, and 9th in their freshman races.  Jill Essency and Braydin Henderson also turned in great performances in the JV girls race.  All those summer miles and morning runs are starting to pay dividends! 

Team Pictures:
We will be having team picture retakes on Wednesday at the conclusion of our pre-meet practice.  Please make sure you have your uniforms on this day.
    
League Meet at Walla Walla:
Our first league meet of the year takes place on Thursday in Walla Walla at Fort Walla Walla Park.  Students will be missing most of 5th and 6th periods that day and should plan accordingly with their teachers.  Races start at 4:00 pm.  Itinerary will be sent home with athletes on Wednesday and posted on the blog as well.

Fort Steilacoom Invite:
Our top 7 boys and girls will be traveling over to Lakewood to compete in the Fort Steilacoom Invite.  We will be departing after 1st period on Friday and return Saturday evening.  More information to come.
    
Highlander Invite:
Amazing opening weekend for all athletes!  Some outstanding early times were turned in by many athletes.  Summer conditioning is really paying off for many athletes.  Great start for many of our newcomers.  Keep up the good work!
